John Mulaney is celebrating his latest milestone.
The 41-year-old opened up for the first time about his private July wedding ceremony to longtime love, Olivia Munn.
“I did. I got married,” the stand-up comic confirmed on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Aug. 13. “Thanks a lot. It's the best.”
Mulaney, who shares 2-year-old son Malcolm with Munn, proudly brought his mother-in-law, Kimberly Schmid, whom he calls "Miss Kim," to the taping, calling being a part of their family “the greatest single time in my life.”
“I've been in a lot of interesting situations,” he shared. “Marrying into a large Vietnamese family is one of the most fun things I've ever done.”
Mulaney, who grew up in an Irish Catholic family in Chicago, said that his family is “uptight about a lot,” noting that most subjects are “taboo.” However, his new in-laws don’t have the same mindset.
“The Luong family, they talk about anything immediately upon meeting you,” he quipped. “Like, ‘How much money you have? Why you so skinny?'”
As for having his mother-in-law escort him to the late night show, Mulaney said, “One of them will come with you anywhere. And they call me John Mulaney, full name. A little wrong, full name all the time. ‘Olivia is here with John Mulaney.’ Yeah. And they're the greatest.”
Mulaney and Munn tied the knot in a private New York ceremony over the July 4 weekend, E! News previously confirmed. Their son Malcolm and a witness were the only attendees at the private ceremony, held at a friend's New York home, according to People.
Munn’s Newsroom costar Sam Waterston presided over the intimate ceremony, serving as the officiant, TODAY.com previously reported.
It’s been a year of highs and lows for the couple after Munn announced her breast cancer diagnosis in March. And the actress has undergone multiple surgeries with Mulaney by her side.
"Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us," Mulaney commented on Munn’s Instagram post sharing her diagnosis. "Malc and I adore you."
So much so, that the couple plan to expand their family even further in the future.
"John and I had a long talk about it," she told Good Morning America in May. "We realized that we weren't done growing our family."
After getting two healthy embryos, the pair hope to welcome a second child.
She noted, "We really just hope that it works out for us to be able to have another baby. We just want one more. I'm not gonna ask for too much more in this life, I promise. I just want one more baby."
