Trace Cyrus is shake shake, shake shake, a-shaking off his critics.
The Metro Station singer recently sparked controversy when he shared a lengthy diatribe about how models on the adult content platform OnlyFans "have lost their chance of settling down with a good guy with morals."
In an Aug. 30 note posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the 34-year-old brother of Miley Cyrus said men "see the value in those girls strictly for sex" and "don't look at those women and equate their value as a future wife, mother, or loyal partner," adding that the "independent mindset of not needing a man is extremely toxic and leads to a lonely future."
Many social media users hit back at Trace's criticism, with Teen Mom alum and OnlyFans creator Farrah Abraham noting, "yet men have OF accounts with marriage, family, etc."
However, Trace doubled down on his stance in a series of tweet on Aug. 31, saying that a lot of people "got triggered" by his words.
"I stand on everything I said," he wrote. "Most of you have made it clear you're not intelligent enough to make a rebuttal to my statement without verbal abuse and name calling."
Calling himself "far too logical to have conversations with people who resort to an emotional response," the musician continued, "Nothing anyone says could ever offend me. I didn't even say anything groundbreaking."
Trace added, "Everything I said is just common sense."
Among Trace's various tweets defending his eyebrow-raising comments, he also described his initial post as "extremely positive and great advice," posted a shirtless selfie and wrote that "one thing I did learn on here today is there's some extremely unattractive people on Only Fans."
In response to Trace, several fans of Miley's expressed their shock over his contentious take on OnlyFans—a subscription-based platform known for hosting NSFW content—given how his sister is often very sex-positive.
"I have a lot of respect for Miley," one fan of the popstar tweeted at Trace. "You on the other hand... I'm baffled by how Trace could've turned out like this."
In the past, Miley has been vocal about why a woman's sexuality shouldn't be taboo. "Girls who base how much they're worth on the sexual favors they can do for somebody, that makes me really sad," she shared during a 2012 appearance on The Conversation With Amanda de Cadenet. "Because sex is actually really beautiful."
Noting that self-worth "isn't based" on sex but rather "based on how you feel about yourself," Miley added, "Just be who you are, and that is where your style will come from, and your attitude, and your spirituality, and your sexuality. Because it's coming from a place of love."
